At last the steps down to the bird hide are gradually taking shape, after a days work on Saturday 25th of April. Thank you to the British Conservation Trust for volunteers (BCTV) who gave the guidance and expertise, and to those who gave their muscle, Paul from Sunderland, Chris from Acomb, Mark and Sebastian from Slaley, and Rachael and the Porter Family from Whitley Chapel. There is still a bit of work to do which will be completed by the BCTV with a youth group of volunteers, and some help from the students at Dilston College. Access to the hide will then be complete. A new gate will be erected on the track side in the near future. This part of the work has been funded by a grant from SITA Green Prints which was awarded to Dilston College.
