Visiting Hexhamshire

If you are, or are thinking of visiting Hexhamshire for a day-trip or longer holiday, we suggest that you take a look at the Area section of this website first. Contained within are details of things to do and places to stay in the immediate area, along with information about the wider region of Northumberland as a whole. The main access route to Hexham and Hexhamshire is along the A69 from either the M6 in the West or the A1(M) to the East, although it is also possible to leave the A1(M) and travel up the A68.

From The West: Leave the A69 at the B6531 towards Hexham, follow this road into the centre of Hexham and turn right onto the B6306 signposted for Whitley Chapel and Slaley. After 200yds take the first right turn signposted Whitley Chapel.

From The East: Leave the A69 at the A6079 towards Hexham and follow to Roundabout with B6305 and A695, taking the second exit (B6305). Turn left onto the B6306 and continue as above.

From The North: From the A68 turn right onto the A69 and leave A69 at next junction A6709 signposted Hexham. Follow directions as above.

From The South: Leave A68 at Kiln Pit Hill signposted Slaley, follow this road throught Slaley Village and turn right onto the B6306. Continue along B6306 for approximately 1/2 mile and turn left signposted Whitley Chapel after the Travellers Rest pub.
