Hall Renovation

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

On the 21st July 2008 the subcommittee of trustees appointed to oversee the redevelopment of the rear part of the hall appointed Shire Building Services as the main contractor for the work. The development work will be divided into four stages as follows:

  • Alteration to the changing rooms to form a large meeting room with a folding wall giving the facility to divide the room into two seperate rooms if required.
  • Renovate the floor of the main hall, install barrier matting in the entrance lobby and rear corridor and fit quality carpet to the new meeting room.
  • Convert the existing ref’s room into two self contained shower changing rooms and construct a new store room.
  • Upgrade the bar area into a mini kitchen facility including a fridge and electric water heater as in the main kitchen.

Stage1 will start in the second week of September and will probably last for about four weeks. Funding for this is already in place thanks to our own development account,  Tynedale Council, County Councillor’s Fund, Hexhamshire W.I.and Hexhamshire Leek Club.

Stage 2 will commence early in November and will take about two weeks. We will try to minimise disruption to hall users while the floor is being sanded and varnished but some cancellation of club meetings will be necessary.

Stages 3 and 4 will commence early in 2009 once funding is in place.

The total cost of all 4 stages including furnishing the new meeting room with upholstered chairs, quality tables and overhead projection system will be £44,000.
